Sigma Kappa Psi Sorority, Inc. is proud to announce the launch of our Back to School Initiative, focused on supporting the children at the Center for Hope Women and Children's Shelter in Charlotte, NC. This effort comes in response to the alarming statistic that over 1.5 million children in the United States experience homelessness each year, with many returning to school without essential supplies.
Studies show that children who lack basic school supplies are three times more likely to struggle academically. To combat this, Sigma Kappa Psi will be donating backpacks filled with essential school supplies to the children at the shelter, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.
Homelessness and the traumatic effects of abusive relationships can severely hinder a child's ability to focus on their education. By providing these students with the necessary supplies, Sigma Kappa Psi aims to ease some of the burdens these children face, giving them a better chance to thrive academically and emotionally.
This initiative is the beginning of a long-term partnership with the Center for Hope Women and Children's Shelter. Our sorority is committed to continuing our support for the women and children who rely on the shelter’s services. We believe that through ongoing engagement, we can make a lasting impact on their lives.
By equipping these children with what they need to succeed, Sigma Kappa Psi is not only helping them start the school year with confidence but also contributing to breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness. We are honored to be a part of this critical effort and look forward to expanding our support in the future.
